Perfect Guide

In this seminar have discussed the basic of web applications, web development, web designing and web engineering layers and design issues.

This was quite informatics for all of my friends who attended this and pay their concentrations to me. The most amazing part of this seminar was the place and the audience who were raising questions of many  aspects and they made me strong through their questions and feedback.

Thanks to my course instructor  who allows me to use the place and acknowledge my audience. The great thing was the shield and the certificate with prosperity and honor.all the slides in “.ppt” format are available . just click the following link and download them easily.

A question is often asked from many of the php developers that “I am trying to send my value to databases through radio buttons but it does not work, what is the reason behind this?”

SOLUTION:

The best solution for them is that those friends facing this problem will have to follow some simple steps and easy to modify. I am gonna provide these steps, read them carefully and follow them they will help you much

  1. According to the rules and regulations of W3C, give specific name and id to each field e.g.                                                                                                      <input  type=”radio” name = “gender” id = “gender” />
  2. Now if you want to use one selection in one time then you have to use the same name for all radio buttons.
  3. The third and important step is that you have to assign a specific value to your button that you wish to save in your database through php page.
  4. Whatever the value is assigned to it will be saved into the databases.

Example:

 I’m gonna satisfy you with an example like I want to use radio buttons for gender (Male, Female). I ‘ll use two radio buttons one for male and one for female.

1-             <input type = “radio” name= “gender” id = “gender” />

2-      <input type = “radio” name= “gender” id = “gender” />

Now I will assign values to each of them. This is the most important point to note.

1-            MALE:<input type = “radio” name= “gender” id = “gender” value = “male” />

2-           Female: <input type = “radio” name= “gender” id = “gender”  value=”female”/>

Save the file with “.php” extension and enjoy

When one will hit the submit button it will properly send the value to the database whatever was selected.

Easier Way to connect your PHP page with your database server??

I am going to give you a simple prescription to connect your PHP page with your database server.

Just follow  steps and make it easier for you:)

SYNTAX:

<?php

$db = mysql_connect('YOUR_DB_ADDRESS','YOUR_DB_USER','YOUR_DB_PASS') or die("Database error");
mysql_select_db('YOUR_DB', $db);
?>

  • Create a new php file with “.php” extension
  • Define variables for “server”,”user_name”,”password”,”database”($servername,$username,$password,$database).

$servername     =             “localhost”;

$username         =             “root”;

$password          =             “vertrigo”; //as my password is VERTRIGO

$database           =             “dbform”;

  • Define a variable of link($link) using built-in function in php

$link       =             mysql_connect( $servername, $username, $password);

  • The next step is to select database, the following code represent you to how to select database

  Mysql_select_db($database,$link);

Complete Code of Connection

<?php 		//connection to mysql
$servername		=	"localhost"; // 127.0.0.1
$uname			=	"root";
$password		=	"vertrigo";
$database		=	"dbform";
$link	                =mysql_connect($servername,$uname,$password); 						mysql_select_db($database,$link);
?>
  • Now simply save this file with name connection.php
  • You can include this file with any of your php page for connection, there is no need to create the connection every time! Simply include it and enjoy

HOW TO INCLUDE?

<?php

Include”connection.php”

?>

WHAT and WHY?

Many of my friends have confusions that why to use PHP? Why not another one? Many questions also bump their head that what is PHP? What it actually do?

I have some points which going to make clear all these questions. These will also make clear all the fundamentals and gossips about PHP. So let’s go:

  • PHP: “hypertext preprocessor” is commonly used open source scripting language.
  • PHP is widely used general purpose scripting language that was originally designed for web development to produce dynamic web pages.
  • A scripting language widely used to write web applications.
  • A general purpose server side scripting language.
  • It can be embedded into HTML to create a wide variety of mini –applications.
  • It can also be used for large type of complex applications.
  • PHP is used for populating dynamic web pages.
  • Embedded into HTML; HTML as output and PHP as input.
  • It is part of LAMP (Linux APACHE MySQL PHP) environment.
  • PHP can be used for same type of applications like ASP and .NET, but its free and open source while the other ones are not.
  • Its advantage over JavaScript is that it runs on the web-server rather than viewer’s PC or Mac.
  • Generally used by LINUX, UNIX and Solaris Platform.7
  • PHP is cross platform
  • PHP supports many databases (MySQL, Oracle, etc)
  • PHP has extension of files “.php”, “.php3” and “.phtml”.

Following Code provides you complete Overview and guide that how to create Rgisration form in HTML;

NOTE:This is for the beginners with HTML this is practical implementation of  the contents that restrict you to the books only 😦

Enjoy it!

OUT PUT:

Client Side:

It generally refers to the class of computer programs on the web that are executed client side by the user.

This type of programing is an important concept as the part of Dynamic HTML (DHTML) enabling web pages

to be scripted. Client side scripting languages are Javascript and VBscript.

Server Side:

It is a web server technology in which a user’s request is verified by running a script directly on the web server to generate Dynamic pages.

It is usually used to provide interactive web site that provide interface to database or the other database.

From Security Point of view, server side scripts are never visible to the browser as these scripts are executed on the server and emit HTML corresponding to user’s input to the Page.

 Todays examles for server side languages are PHP, ASP and .NET

What is HTML?

HTML is actually abbreviation of Hyper Text Markup Language!

Many of us are going ahead with the misconceptions that it is a programming language, while their statement is 100% wrong ,because this is not the programming language, it is the markup language.

A markup language is set of markup tags. and as HTML uses markup tags to create web pages, so it is called markup language.

This is the basic language to program all the text that you want to display in a web page, and how you want it to look like

You can add color, font sizes, font styles, tables, static images and links to other pages; HTML displays plain pages and graphics, and is not capable of more “dynamic” functions like math operations (e.g. 2 + 2), comparators, or conditionals.

Marquee Tags

Here i have some examples of Markup tags
<h1>,<p>,<div>,<table>
These are some examples of markup tags.
